What's all this rhetoric a bout "goin' metric?"
I like my feet, pints, pounds, yards & quarts just fine
But the rest of the world does know o ur way is kinda slow
And science has a better way called S.I.
No, It can't be denied It's all so unified
Work with it awhile: it makes so much sense
Don't need mental chiropractors
From those crazy conversion factors
S.I. all goes together in groups of tens
The first unit you can cram h as a mass of about a gram
Everyone loves it. It's an M & M
But get up off the floor t he height of the knob on a door
Is a meter, or as tall as your little cousin, Tim
We'll it ain't no joke t hat a plastic bottle of Coke
Is exactly two liters or maybe three
But could you tell me please w hy is volume such a breeze?
Because we use it every day when pop we drink [To CHORUS]
To learn the prefixes if you will t ake a look at the "milli-"
It would have to be something very, very small
For it takes a thousand milligrams hey, tell me do you understand?
To make one gram of anything at all
Now, money buys less and less b ut I'm here to profess
That one dollar is still 100 cents and like the dollar one meter
Has 100 centimeters
Is all of this getting too intense? [To CHORUS]
Do you remember that M & M? one gram in each one of them
But who in the world could eat just one
I'd wish for a kilogram! The two "Pounder" bags I'd cram
All 1000 M & M's / It would be so YUMMMMMMM!
Well, I'm glad this song is done b ut before I sing and run
I must confess the truth of "where it's at"
To learn this before you lose it you must use it use it use it
And you can't be: a metric fraidy cat!
[To CHORUS]
