Be As You Are
Idea behind the song:
Diversity. We used to talk much more about it than we do now. I worry that many more think "majority rules". This is dangerous. In nature, biodiversity is the mark of a healthy system. This is also true of our culture. How can we train our students to believe that our differences make us stronger? How can we encourage embracing differences rather than smothering them?
Lesson idea:
My idea is to use this song to open a discussion about differences. How do differences frustrate us? How do differences help us? This song could be the background for a slideshow of students.
I'm using this one for National No Name-Calling Week.
